Memorial Day Tour

Max Carter will lead a tour of the historic New Garden Friends graveyard at 10:00 a. m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30.  In addition to visiting the mass grave of soldiers who fell in the Revolutionary War “Battle of New Garden”, 1781, the graves of those whose lives were dedicated to working for justice and peace will be highlighted.  Of special interest will be connections in the burial ground with the history of the first Quaker communities in eastern North Carolinas 350 years ago.  The book “Tales from the New Garden Friends Graveyard” chronicling 46 individual and events in the burial ground will be available for sale.
