The Independence Fund in partnership with the Town of Waxhaw, NC and NC Representative David Willis will be hosting a ceremony in honor of SGT Michael Verardo, USA retired, and North Carolina’s Wounded Heroes Day on April 24, 2022, at the Waxhaw Military Wall of Honor.

On April 24, 2021, The Independence Fund and the State of North Carolina celebrated the passage of House Bill 138/Senate Bill 132 designating April 24 as Wounded Heroes Day. Wounded Heroes Day honors SGT Michael Verardo’s Alive Day, or the day that he survived catastrophic, life-altering combat injuries in Afghanistan. April 24, 2022 will mark Michael’s 12th Alive Day, and North Carolina’s second celebration of Wounded Heroes Day.

TIF will be honoring SGT Michael Verardo, and all wounded Veterans in North Carolina at 1:00 PM at the Waxhaw Military Wall of Honor, located at 109 E North Main Street, Waxhaw, NC 28173.
