Oct 28 SUP When the Uniform Comes Off: Racial Discrimination during and after service

  • Charlotte, NC United States (map)

Thursday, October 28th - 7:00 ET

Since the integration of the Armed Forces in 1946, racial and ethnic minority servicemembers and veterans have been subjected to discrimination, racism, even physical and mental assault. Despite the obstacles, these members of the Armed Forces have overcome all odds to repeatedly go above and beyond the call of duty.

From Luther Jackson being murdered by police in 1959 to Second Lieutenant Caron Nazario being physically assaulted on a "routine" traffic stop in 2021, racial and ethnic minority members of the Armed Forces are routinely left unprotected by the very country they serve.

Join Minority Veterans of America for Our Stories, Our Truth: When the Uniform Comes Off, where racial and ethnic minorities will share their experiences and shed light on the discrimination and injustice still plaguing our community.

This event is being brought to you in partnership with Black Veterans Project (BVP), whose aim is to advance research, dynamic storytelling, advocacy and litigation to address systemic racial inequities across the military and veteran landscape.
