The Carolinas Freedom Foundation Rising Stars Class of 2020 are a group of motivated and dedicated young professionals working to raise money in support of CFF programs that inspire patriotic citizenship in our youth and community by honoring the service of veterans and first responders. The man or woman who raised the most funds during the twelve-week campaign that began at the 2019 Freedom Breakfast is awarded the prestigious Polaris Award.

Rising Star nominees and supporters will gather for the 2nd Annual Polaris Award Dinner at the historic Palmer Building (2601 East 7th Street, Charlotte) where, following a wine reception and banquet dinner, the 2019 Freedom Award Winner Mary Whyte, who is an internationally renowned artist and founder of Patriot Art Foundation, will deliver a keynote address, and the 2020 Polaris Award winner will be announced.

Seating is limited, but the options are plentiful:

  • Tickets to attend are $75 per person (early bird through January 31, 2020); $85 per person thereafter

  • Sponsor Flags in Classrooms for $250 and receive 2 tickets and program recognition.

More about World Renowned Keynote Mary Whyte
 

Mary Whyte is an American watercolor artist receiving international recognition for her watercolor paintings of contemporary realism and portraiture. In 2016 the Portrait Society of America chose Mary Whyte as the recipient of the Society’s Gold Medal. The Gold Medal is the highest honor awarded by the Portrait Society with past recipients including iconic artists such as Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, and Nelson Shanks. Whyte has been awarded the South Carolina Arts Commission’s prestigious Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award, the highest honor for an artist given by the state of South Carolina. Mary Whyte presents her watercolor paintings in museum exhibitions throughout the United States and internationally.  In the United States, the groundbreaking exhibition Working South was featured on CBS Sunday Morning. The exhibition of 50 works depicted blue-collar workers in industries vanishing throughout the south, with the exhibition traveling to museums throughout the southern United States.  See the clip below:
